The Edina Historical Society Research Library holds historic tax assessor records for nearly every property in Edina. These records are an excellent starting point for anyone researching the history of their home, business, or property.
Tax assessor records can include a wide range of historical information, such as:
Property ownership and changes over time
Construction dates and building descriptions
Assessed values and improvements
Lot size, outbuildings, and alterations
Historic photographs (most EHS records include at least one image)
While the content varies by property and year, these records often provide valuable insight into how a property evolved and how it was used across different periods of Edina’s development.
For a $10 fee per property, EHS staff will scan or copy the available tax assessor record and provide it as either:
A digital file (electronic delivery), or
A physical copy (in-person pickup or mailed, as applicable)
This service is ideal for homeowners, researchers, students, and anyone beginning a property history project.
