Historic Interpreter & Youth Program Leader
Position Type: Part-Time / Seasonal (with summer camp hours)
Pay Rate: $16-20/hour
About the Position:
The Edina Historical Society is seeking a dynamic and engaging Historic Interpreter to bring local history to life for students and families. This role centers on leading immersive field trips at the Historic Cahill School and the 1879 Minnehaha Grange Hall, as well as helping lead our hands-on summer history camps.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, storytelling, and creating memorable, interactive learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Lead school field trips at the Historic Cahill School and Minnehaha Grange Hall
- Portray a late 19th-century schoolteacher in an engaging and educational setting
- Teach Minnesota and local history in an accessible, interactive way
- Lead history-themed games, activities, and hands-on learning experiences
- Assist with planning and leading summer history camps
- Support the development of curriculum and program materials
- Help oversee and maintain historic sites during programming
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Experience working with children (formal or informal)
- Comfort with public speaking and leading groups
- Interest in history, education, or storytelling
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Museum Studies, or related field
- Experience in teaching, camps, theater, or historical interpretation
- Knowledge of Minnesota history
- Strong classroom/group management skills
