CRACKED!

An Archaeology Night for Kids

Paint It. Break It. Piece Together the Past!

Friday, November 20, 2026
4:30–8:00 PM
Presented by the Edina Historical Society

$60 per child | $55 EHS members

Looking for a fun Friday evening for the kids—and a little time for yourself?

Drop the kids off for an exciting, hands-on archaeology adventure with the Edina Historical Society!

In Cracked!, young archaeologists will decorate their own pottery, then discover what happens when their creations become archaeological artifacts.

Working individually and in teams, participants will sort pottery fragments, reconstruct broken vessels, and use clues to figure out what the original decorations might mean.

Along the way, they'll learn how real archaeologists study artifacts, solve mysteries, and piece together stories about the past.

The evening includes:

  • Decorating a terracotta pot with colorful designs and symbols

  • Learning about archaeological artifacts and pottery

  • Sorting and reconstructing broken pottery

  • Working together to solve archaeological mysteries

  • Discovering how archaeologists interpret evidence

  • Pizza and refreshments

  • All supplies and materials

Activities and challenges will be adapted to participants' ages.

No archaeology experience necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to get a little creative!
