History Speaker Series: Minnesota Brewery History Doug Hoverson
Thursday, June 9th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm Brewer's Lounge at the Wooden Hill Brewing Company Craft breweries have spread rapidly through the United States--there are twice as many breweries now as there were at the previous peak in 1871. Small community breweries once provided a source of employment, a market for grain and hops, a product enjoyed by many, and a place for people to gather. Join brewing historian, and local author, Doug Hoverson for a look at the role that local breweries played in the 19th century and how they have changed the brewing scene today! Doug is an expert on beer history and the author of Land of Amber Waters: The History of Brewing in Minnesota .

Friday, July 29th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Location TBD Edina native and Edina Historical Society researcher, John Flynn, presents a photo intensive look at many of the iconic businesses that have existed in the 50th & France shopping area. Based on his popular series on Facebook, "50th & France Friday", this program allows participants to take a step back in time and learn a detailed history of the buildings and the community portrayed in the photography collection of the Edina Historical Society.
