Bronze Age Sword Making Class

At the Minnehaha Grange @ Tupa Park

Edina Historical Society hosts:

Friday, July 10th, 2026  9 AM- 3 PM

For Ages 5 and Up

Cast Your Own Bronze Age Sword with the Sword Casting Guy

Step back over 5,000 years into the world of ancient metalworking with master craftsman and educator Greg Wenderski, the Sword Casting Guy. In this hands-on, full-day workshop, participants will explore the history of Bronze Age metallurgy before creating their own replica sword using traditional sand-casting techniques.

Choose from authentic Bronze Age sword designs, make your own casting mold, and watch as molten aluminum—heated to over 1,400 degrees—is poured into your creation. After the casting is complete, you'll help finish your sword by smoothing, polishing, and wrapping the handle in leather before taking your finished piece home.

Perfect for history enthusiasts, archaeology lovers, makers, and families, this interactive experience blends archaeology, history, science, and craftsmanship into one unforgettable day. No prior experience is necessary, and children as young as five may participate with an assisting adult.

Cost: $120 per sword cast (one ticket per sword; helpers do not need a separate ticket unless they are casting their own sword).
