Help accomplish history projects, large and small

Edina Exhibit renovation and update - The Edina History Museum's exhibit on the history of Edina is showing its age. After more than 17 years on display, the "permanent" exhibit panels are warping and falling off the walls.

The Edina Historical Society would to update the exhibit to include artifacts collected since the exhibit was first created as well as add topics not covered in the original scope of the exhibit, such as life in the region before white settlement.

Donate in-kind services (such as graphic design, carpeting or painting) or funding. Community support will determine scope of renovation: minimum cost is $4,000. Additional contributions will allow us to include more features.

New mannequins for exhibits - Full-size mannequins for males, females and children are needed to display historical clothing. Donate used or new figures, preferably those that look timeless.

On-line photo catalog - Help us preserve the thousands of historic images about Edina and make them more accessible to the public. Digitizing photos will save the originals from further handling and allow us to post the images on-line in a searchable database.

1937 aerial photo of Edina - In 1937, the government first flew over the United States and took photographs. The photos would provide an important view of Edina before World War II. Collaged in a poster sized image of Edina, the 1937 aerial would be displayed alongside those from 1951 and 2000. $1,500.

Additional museum hours - The museum is currently open two mornings (five hours total) per week. Contribute $5,000 to expand hours by five hours per week for an entire year.

Edina High School yearbooks: We do not have the yearbooks from the past decade because no one has donated a copy. We can purchase a copy every year for approximately $75.
